One of the problems with present tidal energy conversion devices is only shallow water bottom positioned conventional tidal turbines. Uncontrolled (one point anchored) surface or underwater floating the second generation of conventional tidal devices is another problem. As such they present a hazard for above and below water vehicles.
In this way huge amounts of tidal energy in deeper waters remain unused or not used in a proper way.
MUP is a much better solution for deepwater tidal energy conversion because of:
1) Much higher productivity - a couple of times higher relative to the same rotor diameter conventional tidal turbines.
2) Stable positioning makes possible much denser group positioning and by that much higher array power output.
3) Increased safety relative to underwater and above water traffics stable positioning with controlled depth changing capabilities.
It can be scaled from 100kW to 20MW.
