Incremental Rolling dies use the technique of Racks adapted on machines for circular Rolling Dies. Not like circular Rolling dies (e.g. Rollex Dies) the incremental Rolling Dies have a special tooth profile. The feed for forming of splines is applied in circumference of Rolling Dies. Comparable to an excentric profile the Rolling Die profile is penetrating the workpiece within one Rolling Die rotation completely until full depth is reached and counter-profile is formed.
This technique is used to coldroll standard involute splines, serrations and knurls with standard machines without workpiece drive. Caused by excentric profile especially low weight workpieces can be synchronized easily to Rolling Die speed. This can lead to big advantages in area of reaching Pitch quality.
