Commonly referred to as Clip-On Gauges, these versatile units are typically used for fracture mechanics studies.
Based on a double cantilever design, Reliant Clip-On gages are primarily used in fracture mechanics testing and crack growth. These gages conform to the requirements of ASTM E399 fracture toughness as well as E1820 and E813. They can be used with a wide variety of specimens including compact tension, WOL, round compact tension, C-shaped, bend, and other common specimens. As with our other extensometers, our Clip-On gauges feature a full, 350 ohm, strain gage bridge design and are compatible with most any brand test equipment. We can install the proper connector to interface to most any electronics including Instron. If your test frame or set-up does not have the required strain signal conditioner, we can supply a stand-alone signal conditioner calibrated with your extensometer. This will allow you to use a chart recorder, digital display, or data acquisition card. Model EDS - Standard Clip-On Gage (COD Gage)
Our Clip-On gauges can be used directly on test specimens with integral knife edges or optional, bolt-on knife edges can be mounted on the test specimen. In addition, custom & special versions are available - Please consult the factory with your specific needs.
All standard models meet existing ASTM accuracy requirements as well as sharp grooves per ASTM E1820, E813, and E399 for improved stability when mounted. Each extensometer comes with a quality, foam lined, plastic storage case.
