The 16-bit CISC microcontrollers of the R8C Family support a wide range of application fields using their abundant on-chip peripherals such as comprehensive timer functions and various serial communication functions Products with built-in modules such as a high-speed on-chip oscillator (R8C/3xM and R8C/L3xM have an oscillation precision of ±1.5%) which negates the necessity of a resonator, a power-on reset circuit (POR) for cutting back on external parts, a low voltage detection circuit (LVD), or an oscillator stop detector to support system safety, are available, contributing to the development of low cost and safe systems. The R8C Family also retains compatibility with the M16C Family, so software resources and development tools can be shared.
