Indium Tin Oxide (ITO) Transparent Conductive coating is a mixture of 90% In2O3 and 10% SnO2 by weight. It is the most common material for transparent conductive coatings because of its two chief properties, its electrical conductivity and optical transparency. As with all transparent conductive films, a compromise must be made between conductivity and transparency, since increasing the film thickness will decrease transparency.
ITO is commonly used to make transparent conductive coating for touch panels, flat panel displays, plasma displays and liquid crystal displays. It also has a great optical property of being like a single layer hot mirror by reflecting the infrared region while transmitting the visible spectrum. The ITO films are very hard and durable and can operate up to 1400°C
