Digital Collators automate the finishing process behind digital printing machines. They process the shingled stream from the folder into stacks of finished book blocks. The proven stacking technology of the RIMA-SYSTEM stackers has been expanded by high-performance scanning and gluing technology and now enables the production of pre-glued book blocks
The RS 700 Lift Collator processes the signatures supplied in the shingled stream into stable book blocks. The book blocks are pre-glued in the Collator, stacked, separated signature-exactly and ejected on the delivery table. The stacks can be pressed and compensated as needed.
In contrast to the RS 700, the ST 2000-DGT forms whole logs of pre-glued or loose book blocks. With appropriate preparation in the bookbindery (log feederfor pre-glue book blocks) the productivity can be increased even further. Anintermediate storage of the products is simplified.
A high-speed transfer unit enables the safe redirection of the shingle stream at up to 300 m/min. Spine leading, the signatures are then perfectly aligned again in the infeed of the collator before they are glued and bundled.
Counting system
In the infeed, the products are counted exactly and registered via a code reader. This allows the exact separation and error-free collection of book blocks.
Gluing system
A high-performance gluing unit provides the signatures with up to 190 adhesivedots per second. The gluing can be done at the edges or in the middle, one-sided or two-sided.
