Wear-protected industrial fans
Solids are often transported with the air that are very abrasive (e.g. corundum, sand, quartz, wood). These solids lead to considerable wear, in particular of the fan impeller. Progressive loss of material takes place, which can lead to machine failure. By means of specific measures to prevent wear, the service life of the fan can be extended. In addition to a suitable blade geometry, austenitic manganese steels and build-up welds can be used to counteract impact and sliding wear.
