The device is used for making glass knives. Consistent breaks can be achieved in a controlled manner because there is a digital readout and micrometer positioner which will indicate the load. It also uses balanced break method which helps in getting optimum knife edges. Position and load of the breaking process must be optimized to achieve consistent and controlled breaks. Precision micrometers are used to control the glass position on the GKM-2. Constant feedback is displayed on the digital readout. This helps in controlling the load by readjusting breaking arm and clamping handle. For achieving Balanced breaks, equal lengths of glass on each side of the score. It also requires a mechanism to apply equal load to each side to offer a straight break. It is also useful for achieving consistent slow breaks.
