Therefore the blades of this auger are extended with added “wings”, forming an almost closed auger body to keep the sample from slipping out. This makes this auger shape very suitable for loose soils, such as coarse sand or very dry sandy soils. Augers should be left to air-dry after use and decontaminated with soaps.
