Rotational abrasion tester – SAAB523 Rotational abrasion tester is primarily employed for assessing abrasion resistance performance of different coatings using rotary rubbing. The sample to be tested is placed on the tester rotary plate. Here the sample is subjected to the action of two abrasive wheels with determined pressure. The abrasive action is obtained by rotation of the sample along the vertical axis, while two abrasive wheels rotate above it. The two wheels cover a complete rotation on sample surface; by the way, they allow to verify abrasion resistance in every possible angle in respect to the sample. The tested surface corresponds to a circle having a surface area of 30cm2. The abrasion degree of the sample depends also on the loading force applied (500g, 750g or 1000g).
