Cross hatch testers – SADT502
Cross hatch tester is mainly employed to determine if the various coats of paint are firmly anchored to the support and, in the case of several coats, to verify the adhesion between the different layers. The supplied package is composed by a handle, metal head, brush, lens and adhesive tape. The metal heads can be of 6 or 11 blades (according to the standard) laid out with a spacing of 1, 2 or 3mm. According to the spacing, the head will measure coatings respectively between 0 and 60µm, 60 and 120µm, or 120 and 250µm.
The measuring procedure consists in sliding the selected head orthogonally on the sample, in order to track a grid on the coating. Comparing the status of the coating after the test with an internationally acknowledged table, the user can easily determine the grade of adhesion of tested sample.
