Patch cords are fused silica-core fibers optimized for transport light in a defined wavelength range. The patch cords supplied by Sarspec are high-quality and durable optical fibers set to deliver UV-Vis or Vis-NIR light uniformly with minimal signal variance. Available in different wavelength ranges, core diameters, protection types, and lengths, our patch cords have SMA terminations in both ends for an easy and simple connection to Sarspec light sources, spectrometers, and accessories. Solarization-resistant fibers are available for deep-UV applications.
Bifurcated optical fibers have two fibers in the common SMA end and break out into two SMA separate fibers at the other end. With this configuration, the fiber type used in each separate fiber can be configured with similar or different physical properties (wavelength ranges and core diameters). Bifurcated optical fibers offer great flexibility to your setup by allowing for the illumination of two different locations with one light source, assuring an equal amount of light from a single source to two samples, or collecting light with two spectrometers that have different wavelength ranges, resolutions, sensitivities, or acquisition speeds.
