This new shoring system, developed by SBH, represents the first real alternative to conventional soldier pile wall. The new shoring system’s special rails are quick and easy to insert into holes, with or without protective pipe, or can be rammed in directly – without problems, and using equipment that is usually already available – to depths of more than 10m. The shoring plates are fanned diagonally, in other words offset and mechanically installed between the rails, so that they overlap. The bolt system installed after excavating fully compensates for any existing tolerances. The need for manual installation of wooden boards, which is customary with conventional shoring, is completely eliminated. That saves considerable time. In direct comparison to classic soldier pile walls, SBH’s system requires 50% fewer rails, due to the double field length. The system’s main benefit lies in the much greater ease of installation and removal compared to when using wooden boards. This all represents a clear plus for the environment, as steel shoring plates can be reused virtually limitless times.
