A manufacturer of transmission and power components optimised its ‘heavy picking’ area in the warehouse, creating a dedicated area for the simultaneous handling of items to be placed in bins. Conventional hoists, installed in several locations, were removed and replaced by a suspended manipulator arm from the Liftronic Easy series, mounted on an overhead crane structure with overhead rails. This solution reduced the number of operators required from one per position to a single operator handling the entire area, improving efficiency and maintaining consistent productivity throughout the day.
The manipulator arm allows a smooth and light horizontal movement thanks to the aluminium rails, while the vertical movement of the load is almost resistance-free, thanks to the electronic control of the manipulator. This configuration reduces physical exertion and improves ergonomics compared to traditional hoists, which caused health problems such as carpal tunnel inflammation due to the need to hold down buttons to raise and lower the load.
The new system allows operators to handle loads in float mode, where the load is weightless and can be moved naturally. Ergonomics have improved, health problems have been solved and overall productivity has increased, benefiting the operators' health and the overall efficiency of the picking area.
