If centrifugal pumps run dry, the entire production quickly comes to a standstill.
Schubert & Salzer Control Systems has developed a new out-of-the-box solution for this application. Dry running is reliably prevented, operating reliability is considerably increased and the installation and maintenance work is reduced.
How does it work?
When the centrifugal pump starts up, the pneumatic valve of the valve manifold opens simultaneously. As a result, the shaft seal and bearing are immediately cooled and lubricated, and this is monitored by the flow sensor integrated in the valve manifold. If no flow is detected, the pump is switched off in order to prevent damage to the shaft seal and seizing.
Minimal installation and maintenance work
All components are integrated in a compact valve manifold, ready to install. Cooling and lubrication take place by means of the operating medium, therefore no separate cooling circuit is necessary. Installation and maintenance work as well as operating costs are considerably reduced.
High operating reliability
Due to the direct measurement of the flow of media in the bypass, i.e. ignoring the main flow, impending dry running is detected with absolute reliability. Maximum operating reliability can thus be guaranteed.
Versatile in use
Contaminations are ruled out due to the use of the operating medium as the cooling lubricant. This valve manifold is thus suitable for use wherever the compact and reliable operation of centrifugal pumps is necessary. The valve manifold can easily be extended for the measurement of temperature and pressure.
