A sharp precision knurl pattern cuts into these materials, reducing radial stress and allowing for thinner boss walls than many other inserts. Advantage: Easy press-fit insertion. High torque resistance. Low burst stress allows the use of thinner wall bosses, reducing the risk of sink marks. Self Alignment - Assisted Installation. Installation: The blade must be installed using an extruder, never hit with a hammer. The insert must be rotated in the direction of the knurl when installed, this is best achieved by using a punch with a polished face or thrust bearing, the hole size must not exceed the maximum tolerance limit, as oversized holes will reduce or eliminate self-alignment effects, Risk of developing side loads and consequent boss cracking.
