Changhong® manufactures Ni-Cd battery for rail transit appliances. Its series includes the GNC170, GNC170-(5), GNC220 and GNC190. They are used as starting power for diesel locomotives. The series GN100, GN100-(2), GN100-(3) and GNG120 are used as power components of lifting pantograph for electric locomotives. The series GNZ100 and GNZ150 are for railways signaling and telecommunications. The models KM45P, GNG20, GNC40-(7), GNC120-(4), and others, are used as emergency power supply for air-conditioned passenger cars. Changhong Ni-cad batteries are used for subway and light railway applications like the Shanghai Subway Line I that uses KMZ120P on DC01 direct-current electrically operated rolling-stocks. Shanghai also uses another of Changhong's, the KMZ160p on their Shanghai Subway II on AC01/AC02 alternating current electrically operated rolling stocks.
