An eye-forming furnace, and the layers that connect the springs and the shaft are designed in a special way, as having two eyes, single eye and sometimes with no eye. One-eyed springs are the mostly commonly used ones. Bearings located within the eye are used to provide connection between the spring and the shaft. An eye stud passes through the bearings. The ends of the springs should be heated in the range of 920 – 950°C before the eye forming task. Depending on transfer type, furnaces are manufactured as either Pallet Conveyored (most common) or Walking beam. They are natural gas heated with burners placed at the top of the furnace. Between the loading and the unloading part, several other burners are strategically located, and they provide homogeneous heating over the springs. It is important to remove the heated spring right after the loading. If not, a control system warns visibly and audibly. Can also automatically cool the furnace to 700°C.
