Description

The Constant Thickness Film Maker and High Temperature Constant Thickness Film Maker enable the analyst to produce thin samples of plastics and polymers for laboratory analysis, commonly by FTIR. This potentially enable the accurate and quick identification of additives, contaminants and polymer mixtures. Key Features • Kits or component parts available depending on maximum temperature required, 300 or 400°C • Reproducible constant film thickness • Quickly and easily change the film thickness with a choice of 15, 25, 50, 100, 250 and 500 µm • Suitable for qualitative and quantitative analysis While ATR is an ideal method of analysis by FTIR of base polymers, often in pellet form for quick quality control or raw materials testing, if it is required to determine the presence of additives or contaminants in low concentrations, transmission analysis using a thin film sample with a longer pathlength than is possible with ATR is the best method. The Constant Thickness Film Maker and High Temperature Constant Thickness Film Maker tools enable the hot pressing of polymers to form a thin film sample and is one of the most commonly used techniques for the analysis of polymers by FTIR. Ideally suited for use with the Specac 15-ton manual press, there are 2 options based on the maximum temperatures of either 300 °C or 400 °C.
