These balls are supremely hard, tough and offer exceptional dimensional stability thanks to their high chromium content and a process which subjects them to very high temperatures, quenches and then 'deep freezes' them. In addition, because they're ferro-magnetic, they make a decent permanent magnet.
Benefits
Extremely hard, with impressive corrosive resistance to fresh water, steam, crude oil, gasoline, alcohol, food, blood and perspiration, these balls are also resistant to fatigue by rolling contact, making them a good choice for use in anti-friction bearings.
Use
You'll find these balls in valves, fasteners, 'quick-disconnect' couplings (for hydraulic, medical and pneumatic applications) and locking mechanisms; they're also widely used in the aviation and aerospace industries.
