Winding goods such as stators, coils or transformers can be tested precisely and conveniently with the new ST 4000A surge tester. Short circuits and insulation faults within a winding can be detected before the fault affects the DUT. Failures of electric motors and the associated recalls can thus be avoided.
The device is operated with an internal Windows PC and the easy-to-use DAT 3805 data acquisition software. This means there are no limits to test plan creation and result storage. Network integration is not a problem, as the embedded Windows 10 IoT Enterprise 2019 LTSC used can be regularly supplied with security updates. The test sequences can be designed as required and then carried out automatically.
Additional test and measuring devices from SPS electronic can be easily integrated via the external power supply option. The test device can be expanded to include high-precision resistance measurement without requiring any additional space. The internally installed surge capacitor has 18 nF and can therefore be operated without further safety measures in accordance with EN 50191.
