Careful attention must be given to the cable connection points in the secondary circuit of resistance welding equipment. Bolted cable connection points tend to deteriorate over time, leading to increased contact resistance and energy losses. When worn secondary circuit components, such as connecting cables, need to be replaced, extensive machining of the old cable connection points is necessary. This re-work process is time-consuming, and its quality depends on the expertise of the technician. Insufficient machining can result in undefined contact resistances, higher energy losses, and a shortened service life.
To address these challenges, the modular and scalable SpotFix connect system was specifically developed for use in the secondary circuit of resistance welding equipment, particularly X-guns. This cooled connector system eliminates the drawbacks of screw connections. It ensures consistently reliable contact conditions and optimal system availability.
Thanks to Stäubli's reliable MULTILAM contact technology, it is now possible to implement pluggable high-current applications while maintaining consistently low contact resistances. This enables quick and safe replacement of cables in a resistance welding machine without requiring special training.
Stäubli's expertise positions us as a first mover in offering a pluggable connection concept for resistance welding equipment, aiming to minimize downtimes and reduce the total cost of ownership. This innovative approach not only provides solutions for traditional setups, but also opens up new possibilities for design methods and applications.
