Highly automated - Efficient - Safe
Highest degree of automation in the smallest of spaces
The German healthcare group Fresenius Kabi offers vital medicines and medical products for infusion, transfusion and clinical nutrition to customers all over the world. In order to meet the growing delivery requirements and safety regulations, Fresenius Kabi chose Stoecklin Logistics to create a new automation solution for the production facility in Wilson, North Carolina.
The Stoecklin solution
To create space for the new plant, a fully automated high-bay warehouse was built in Wilson, North Carolina for the MASTer miniload system solution from Stoecklin. The system consists of three aisles with 10,200 pallet spaces.
At the beginning of the process, liquid chemicals are mixed in a neighboring system and filled into PVC-free infusion bags, which are packed by a robot automatically. Other robots then stack the cartons on pallets. A Stoecklin transfer carriage takes the full pallets to one of the pallet wrappers, from where the goods are transported to the storage and retrieval machine (SRM). The logOS control software from Stoecklin is integrated into the SAP management system and carefully monitors the status of each batch throughout the entire process.
Once the products are ready for dispatch, the pallets are picked up by the stacker cranes' load handling devices and placed on a conveyor belt for transportation to the dispatch area. On arrival in the dispatch area, the pallets are moved by another transfer car to the staging area, where they are temporarily stored until trucks are ready for loading.
