Description

The main function of a rigid shaft coupling is the safe and backlash-free connection of two shaft ends by means of frictional engagement. For example, between an input and output shaft and mainly for transmitting torque. Shaft couplings consist of a connecting sleeve and two externally clamping systems and cannot be separated like flange couplings. The external clamping systems create a backlash-free connection by pressing the sleeve onto the shaft ends. They only provide the required forces and do not themselves transmit any forces or moments between the shaft ends. These external clamping systems are therefore not in the force flow, but this applies to the connecting sleeve. The assembly is carried out by pushing the coupling onto the shaft ends and the subsequent clamping by means of a screw connection. For proper function and to achieve a sufficiently high coefficient of friction, the contact surfaces at the shaft ends must be free of grease, dry and clean. Our shaft couplings are supplied ready for installation. The functional surfaces of the externally clamping systems, as well as the threads and head supports of the screws are already lubricated ex works.
