Description

The main function of a hydraulic shaft coupling (WHS) is the safe and backlash-free connection of two shaft ends by means of frictional engagement. For example, between an input and output shaft and mainly for transmitting torque. Shaft couplings consist of a connecting sleeve and two external clamping systems. They are not separable like flange connections. The external clamping systems create a backlash-free connection by pressing the connecting sleeve onto the shaft ends. They only provide the required forces and do not transmit any forces or moments themselves. The connecting sleeve is in the force flow, whereas the external clamping systems are not. Assembly is carried out by pushing the WHS onto the shaft ends and then clamping it with the aid of the integrated hydraulic system. By using conical surfaces, the inner diameter is reduced and the radial pressure is built up. After clamping is complete, the WHS is mechanically blocked and the hydraulic pressure is released. The WHS is suitable for repeated clamping operations. For perfect functioning and to achieve a sufficiently high coefficient of friction, the contact surfaces at the shaft ends must be free of grease, dry and clean. Our shaft couplings are supplied ready for installation. The functional surfaces of the externally clamping systems, as well as the threads and head supports of the screws are already lubricated ex works. A suitable hydraulic power pack is required for assembly. Advantages of the WHS: - high transmittable torques and axial forces - application-specific design/adaptation - easy assembly and adjustment due to clearance fit - relatively low pressure (closed hydraulic system)
