The profile of the V-ring seal has been designed to prevent the ingress of dust, dirt, water and oil, while keeping grease inside the system. V-Seal can be used to protect a wide range of bearings. It is sometimes used as a secondary seal to protect a primary seal (mainly on rotating shafts), which does not function effectively in a hostile environment.
V-rings are made up of two parts:
The body that is tightened with the shaft
The conical sealing lip that fits against the bearing surface
One of the most important parameters for sealing a V-ring is the surface roughness of the counterface. The speed of the rotating shaft and the nature of the various fluids to be sealed determine the roughness value of the counterface.
Materials and approvals
Techné has in stock V-rings types VA, VS and VL in NBR and FKM. On request, Techné supplies other materials such as EPDM. Compounds for food applications are available on request (FDA and CE 1935/2004 approvals).
Coatings
In its Morancé workshop, Techné performs coatings on V-rings.
Each coating has a specific goal :
T-Lub® coating facilitates assembly of V-rings, particularly in static applications.
T-Coat® coating improves the natural sliding properties and service life of V-rings, especially in dynamic applications.
T-Surf® coating keeps V-Seals clean and uncontaminated.
T-Color® coating meets marking and identification needs by coloring V-Seals and improving their friction properties.
