In numerous lighting applications, the LID (luminous intensity distribution) of headlights, rear lamps, reflector lamps, and other luminaires can be very precisely measured using goniophotometers. However, this technique is very time-consuming, and measurements can take up to several hours.
The LID can also be measured indirectly over the illuminance distribution on a projection screen using an LMK, TechnoTeam’s imaging luminance measuring camera. With this technique, a high-resolution LID is available within a few seconds.
The High-Contrast-Optimized LMK achieves the highest contrast values according to CIE244:2021. With this setup, even accurate measurements in dark zones of headlamp low beam distributions are possible.
Dependent on the customized laboratory layout, the choice of the lens, as well as the handling system (goniometer, robot, or LID-table) several angles and resolutions are realizable.
For automotive lighting measurements, TechnoTeam and LMT Berlin have a jointly patented technology for camera-based goniophotometry, which combines the swiftness of digital imaging cameras with the accuracy of traditional goniometers. This solution is the best of both worlds.
• 100 times faster than standard goniophotometry
• Fast pulse width modulation mode
• Sensor fusion
• More than 100 installations worldwide
• Patented technology
Measurement can also be automated. The supplied software can detect the elbow point, define measuring regions (points, cuts, areas), evaluate the regions, and create a protocol using a low beam distribution. Using a color measuring camera, the color gradient on the cutoff line and further color analysis can be realized.
