The fibre can be tied onto the ceramic tube before fixing onto the metallic tube prior to sealing with cement. It is made up of long ceramic fibres woven to form a string. The thermal stability of these fibres is fairly good up to 12000C which is sufficient for this application as the string is used at the cold end where the ceramic tube is held on to the stainless steel tube.
