Description

Terragon’ s novel Micro Auto Gasification System, or MAGSTM, is the world’s most compact, efficient and environmentally safe technology for the conversion of a variety of combustible materials into thermal energy for use by the site where these materials are generated. MAGSTM can be used to eliminate all combustible by-products produced by a ship, community or institution, while sterilizing the inorganic portion of the waste. Waste streams that can be easily treated by MAGSTM, without the need for segregation, include but are not limited to paper/cardboard, plastics, food, oily rags, oils and sludges. MAGSTM is used to generate over 2,400 kWh of energy daily by processing up to 1 tonne per day of combustible materials. The MAGSTM technology is part of Terragon’s exciting effort to develop Zero Waste Habitats and can be integrated with WETTTM, Terragon’s unique water treatment and reuse technologies. MAGSTM uses Terragon’s patented technology, the Auto Gasification Process, to thermally break down hydrocarbons in waste and transform them into a small volume (5%) of harmless residue (bio-char) and energy. The treatment reactor is about the same size as a 55 gallon drum. A safe and simple to operate lid is used by the operator to load a bag of mixed waste with no pre-treatment of any kind. Combustible liquids can be fed automatically without the need for an operator. Within the drum, the waste is heated and breaks down to carbonaceous char (bio-char) and a gas consisting mostly of hydrogen and carbon monoxide (syngas).
