Description

Sheets and seals in non-asbestos jointing sheets ECOFLEX® with a very high seal strength. Asbestos-free ECOFLEX® joint sheets, are pre-pressed laminates used for the manufacture of seals for piping and pressure equipment. They ensure effective sealing in an extremely wide range of application and conditions. They are composed of high tenacity synthetic fibers, inorganic fillers and elastomeric binders, which through calendering and vulcanization are pre-formed in the shape of a sheet. The different types of ECOFLEX® joint sheets stand out for their components and their mixing, which make each type suitable for different applications. The fibers are the most important component: they must have high elasticity and high mechanical strength, thermal and chemical stability, as well as a good cohesiveness with the other components. There are various types of fibers, for example: Aramid fibers: they give high thermal, chemical and mechanical resistance; however, this structure is subject to the attachment of water vapor or strong acids and bases, in the presence of which the preservation of the integrity of the seal is entrusted to the screen provided by the elastomeric matrix (effective within low temperature ranges); Glass fibers: they are thermally stable but have little flexibility, so they are only used in couple with aramid fibers in oder to make joints with high temperature resistance and hydrolysis vapor action; Carbon fibers: they are used in some fine joints, as they have excellent chemical resistance, particularly with strong alkaline substances
