Description

This galvanized 8-strand high-end steel wire rope for marine riser tensioners (MRT) was developed explicitly for high bending cycles in MRT systems. The cost-effective solution! MRT – marine riser tensioners are essential installations on floating oil platforms to compensate the wave motion of the ocean and to ensure the smooth and profitable operation of the platform. In this application scenario, the ropes run around rope sheaves in adverse conditions and in a continuously loaded state in order to retain the drilling rig in its position. • Reduced rope wear and thus longer service life thanks to the eight compacted outer strands • Less wear on the rope sheaves due to lower surface pressure in the 8-strand rope construction • Superior performance under reverse bending cycles and very high flexibility due to outer strands with higher number of wires • Resistant to corrosion thanks to high quality raw materials and the permanent lubrication of the core provided by the PLASTFILL® insert • Reliability and safe operation of the system ensured by reducing the specific load through the high breaking forces achieved by SUPERFILL® compaction technology
