Description

Carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) is a composite material in which carbon fibers are embedded in a plastic matrix, usually epoxy resin. The matrix material serves to join the fibers as well as to fill the spaces. The mechanical properties of the cured compound benefit above all from the tensile strength and the stiffness of the carbon fibers. The matrix prevents the fibers from pushing against one another under load. CFRP is used, in particular, in applications where the increased costs are deemed acceptable in exchange for a low mass and, at the same time, high stiffness. Properties Fiber type: HT carbon fiber Matrix type: epoxy resin Fiber volume ratio of 60% All values are typical average values
