This Handyscope HS5 combines an extremely accurate 40 MHz, 14 bit Constant Data Size (CDS) Arbitrary Waveform Generator (AWG) with 24 V peak to peak signal output with a 500 MS/s 12, 14, 16 bit high resolution oscilloscope.
The Handyscope HS5 AWG uses CDS signal synthesis technology, developed by TiePie engineering, resulting in the best signal fidelity in its class, generating the true form of your signals. With spurious distortion as low as -85 dB at 100 kHz signal frequency, a very flat amplitude spectrum and a rise time of 8 ns, the low distortion function generator creates signals that approach perfection. Combined with a waveform buffer of 64 MSamples, this makes the Handyscope HS5 AWG truly a high quality low distortion function generator.
The CDS technology shares all performance advantages of DDS, while adding the following significant advantages:
- square waves and pulse waveforms have less jitter
- triangular waveform reproduction is more accurate and up to much higher frequencies
- arbitrary waveform reproduction is more accurate, as memory is read point by point
Since the Handyscope HS5 equipped with CDS technology uses every point in waveform memory and no points are skipped or repeated, arbitrary waveforms are reproduced much more accurately. This results in an extremely low Total Harmonic Distortion (THD)
The oscilloscope and the AWG in the Handyscope HS5 can be easily synchronized by setting the trigger source of the oscilloscope to one or more generator trigger events: start, stop and new period. This synchronization makes it possible for example to perform a sweep, and directly measure the frequency spectrum.
