SAN JOSE, Calif., — Toshiba America Electronic Components, Inc. (TAEC)*, a committed leader that collaborates with technology companies to create breakthrough designs, today expanded its offering of image recognition processors with the new TMPV760 series aimed at automotive applications. Dubbed TMPV7608XBG, the first device will simplify implementation of next-generation Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADASs), targeting 2018 European New Car Assessment Program (Euro NCAP) applications.

ADAS capabilities supported by the TMPV7608XBG include autonomous emergency braking, traffic signal recognition, lane departure warning/lane keeping assist, high-beam assistance and forward collision warning—many of which are included in the Euro NCAP safety ratings criteria. Similar initiatives are being discussed by the U.S. Department of Transportation's National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), as it seeks to make changes to its five-star safety program1.
