The RK Decoders are slightly smaller than the LD Decoders and are deployed in a 1:1 ratio of one decoder to one solenoid.
The LD Decoders have larger capacity options available such as two solenoids, four solenoids and six solenoids. The larger LD decoders also have grounding capacity built in whereas the RKD Decoders require a Surge Protector Decoder to be added every eight decoders or every 500′ whichever comes first.
Tucor Surge Protectors should be used to mitigate the impact of any lightning strikes. It is recommended that a Tucor Surge Protector be installed every eight decoders or every 500′ whichever comes first.
The Larger Tucor LD decoders come with a surge protector and grounding wire built into the Decoder.
