GTOs (Gate Turn Off Thyristors) are used as switches for very high powers. The increase in reverse voltage and the rise in power in semiconductor switches have effects on the necessary triggering as well as on the power supply of the triggering electronics close to the gate.
VAC triggering transformers with cores based on the amorphous alloy VITROVAC and the nanocrystalline alloy VITROPERM meet a number of demands:
low coupling capacitances and thus high interference immunity, i.e. no unwanted tripping of the semiconductor
low leakage inductances and thus steep control impulses that keep their shape
small sizes while retaining high isolating voltages
no On and OFF switching delay
transmission of high instantaneous power
wide ambient temperature range (e. g. - 40 °C to +85 °C)
Compliance with national and international standards, e.g. VDE 0160, EN 50178, EN 60950, reinforced isolation
Trigger transformers are designed specifically for customers. The transformer types listed are therefore only for guidance and are not type series.
