These purge systems regulate and monitor a positive pressure within VarTech’s monitors and panel PCs using clean air or inert gas (nitrogen, argon). This process allows safe operation for HMI visualization and machine control in Division 1 or Division 2 environments by preventing the accumulation of a flammable gases and ignitable dust inside the enclosure. Using a purge and pressurization system is standard practice for explosion protection of energized HMI terminals within a hazardous area. Additionally, the continuous flow of clean air or gas also reduces heat, and the build-up of moisture and corrosion inside the enclosure.
Type X and Type Z purge systems are available for VarTech’s rugged monitors and panel PCs. Type X purge systems reduce the classification of the protected monitor or panel PC enclosure from Division 1 to non-hazardous while Type Z purge systems reduce the classification from Division 2 / Zone 2 to non-hazardous.
