Description

Rotary encoders for Ex use are available in two different types of protection. A distinction is made between the “flameproof enclosure” (Ex d) type of protection and the “intrinsic safety” type of protection (Ex ia and ib). Type of protection Ex d Devices with the type of protection Ex d are designed in such a way that their housings are not damaged if an explosive mixture explodes inside, thus preventing the explosion from spreading to the surrounding explosive atmosphere. Type of protection Ex ia and ib With the Ex ia type of protection, the current and voltage values are kept at such a low level that no ignition sparks can occur and an explosive atmosphere cannot ignite. Absolute Ex rotary encoders are length or angle measuring devices that are used as path and angle measuring devices. They output the position information in the form of a binary numerical value (code). This numerical value is unique across the entire resolution range of the absolute encoder. Therefore, no initial reference run is required, as is the case with the incremental Ex rotary encoder. With rotary encoders, a distinction is made between single-turn, which resolve only one revolution and then start again at 0, and multi-turn Ex-encoders, which also resolve over several revolutions meet the requirements for Ex d IIC T6 and T4. The IP rotary encoders meet the protection class IP67 and IP66 with a rotating shaft. Size: Ø 70 mm Signals: A, /A, B, /B , Z, /Z Supply voltage: 4.75-30 VDC
