The weisstechnik and vötschtechnik spray and splash water test chambers can be used to perform IPX protection type tests. Although IP testing is rated from water resistance through to waterproof to varying degrees of water pressure on a whole range of products and component part, we commonly supply our splash water test chambers for testing water resistance levels of lithium ion batteries. We offer a complete turnkey solution for spray water leakage tests of lithium-ion batteries for electric vehicles.
IPX3 and IPX4 protection class tests are according to DIN EN 60529 (VDE 0470-1) IPX3. The chambers are available with swivel tube radii of 200 mm and 600 mm. The maximum possible swivel tube radii are 400 mm and 800 mm. Spray tests according to IPX 5, IPX 6 and IPX 6K are carried out manually with a jet nozzle where water is sprayed onto the test specimen from varying specified distances in the test plan. For IPX9k testing, the test item is rotated during the test as a high-pressure, high-temperature spray.
Optional equipment is also available so that further standards and protection classes can be complied with, including:
• ISO 20653, IPX1K to IPX6K, IPX9K
• DIN EN 60529, IPX1 to IPX6, IPX9
• SAE J 575
• JIS D 0203
• MIL STD 810
• EN 60068-2-18
• IEC 60598-1
