The ideal material for on the tank
The top of tank magnetic visual level indicators (ToT VLIs) in the plastic version are a mix of top of tank indicator and bypass PlasticLine.
Modern plastics are no “inferior plastic”, but rather an innovative alternative to stainless steels!
For use for the level indication of acids, often materials are required that show a high nickel proportion in the steel area. The raw materials are expensive and not always easy to acquire. Processing these materials is complex, time-intensive and thus expensive. Plastics offer a far more affordable alternative for the low pressure and low temperature range. With PVC, polypropylene (PP) and PVDF, many measurement tasks can be performed safely and efficiently.
Of course, a large number of float types for different parameters are available here as well in PVC, PP and PVDF.
Where it is not possible or permitted to install a bypass magnetic visual level indicator on the side of a tank, e.g. in shipbuilding in the case of tanks with combustible media, top of tank visual level indicators (ToT VLIs) can be used.
WEKA can process more than stainless steel – also on the tank!
Here, a float system is used in which the floatation panel, i.e. the float, and the magnetic carrier with the lying bar magnet are separated and connected to a rod.
In this way, the level is recorded by the float and is displayed above the tank. Because the filling level is thus no longer intuitively at the same level as the display, as with the bypass magnetic visual level indicators, it is recommended to use measuring scales that make clear the link to the filling level, e.g. 0% to 100%.
