Wichita's Kopper Kool airtube disc Clutches and Brakes consist of a series of alternating discs connecting an inner drive member to an outer drive member by pneumatic expansion of the airtube. The brakes are liquid cooled. The air-operated clutch contains copper discs for excellent heat dissipation. It provides an accurately controlled and continuous slip action. Braking torque acts proportionately to the air pressure applied. The high level of heat dissipation makes Kopper Kool Brakes ideal for dynamo-meter applications such as measuring power of engines, electric motors or hydraulic motors. It is also suitable for high speed web tension control duties when used with a closed loop control system such as the Wichita Altra range of controllers.
