Class 0.5s, 0.2s or customised current transformers
Current transformers are used to measure the current in an electrical circuit. The accuracy of this measurement depends on the transformer’s accuracy class. In an electrical installation, the current transformer is defined according to the rating of the circuit breaker.
The use of precision current transformers guarantees a low measurement error (± 0.5 or 0.2%) over a wide measurement range from 20 to 120% of the rated current. In comparison, a “standard” current transformer or a class 1 current transformer (± 1%) has an accuracy of 100 to 120% of the rated current.
These products are regularly used in installations requiring billing and are generally associated with MID energy meters. The areas of application can be varied: funders billing their tenants for energy, cost accounting for one service compared with others or energy management.
We sell current transformers from Frer brand, which designs, develops and manufactures a very wide range of precision transformers. This range starts at 5 A and extends up to 8000 A. We can also produce specific dimensions to suit your installation and space requirements. All products can be supplied with a test certificate (on request).
Ultra-precise measurements
A class 0.5s or 0.2s precision current transformer guarantees an accuracy of 20 to 120% of the rated current. In comparison, a class 1 current transformer (1% accuracy) is accurate to between 100 and 120% of rated current. A precision current transformer therefore enables you to guarantee the most accurate measurement over a wide range of use.
