The DWT Series is a range of high-energy drop-weight tester from Zwick that is used to test and evaluate fracture surfaces of ferritic steels. It is offered in various KJ sizes that include 20, 30, 40, 60, 80, and 100. The standard models have a 5 m drop height while the DWT 20 and 4 is offered on a 2.5 m drop height.
The test fixtures are installed outside the test area while the specimen throughput is fixed by the pneumatic specimen feed in 10 seconds. A safety circuit protects the test area and does not perform the test until all the safety contacts are properly monitored. During the test, the weights plunge to the specimen supported at both ends and breaks it. The specimen is then given a cold-pressed notch when it breaks under the impact effect.
