August 1951: Started PVA sponge business in Kanebo group (in Japan)
August 1969: Relocated factory form Sumida (Tokyo) to current location in Ibaraki
September 1999: Acquired ISO9001
December 1999: Founded Aion Co., Ltd. as wholly-owned subsidiary of SOFT 99 Corporation
March 2002: Constructed Aion Kanto Plant 2 (East Wing)
Launch of PU (Polyurethane) sponge
March 2006: Acquired ISO14001
March 2009: Constructed Aion Kanto Plant 2 (South Wing)
Launch of PO (Polyolefin) sponge, and EVA and PE sponge
May 2021: Started to construct Aion Kanto Plant 3

Aion Co., Ltd. is a sponge manufacturer located in Japan and a forerunner in today’s high-tech industrial trends, such as PCB, LCD, glass, hard disk, semiconductor, and cleanroom peripheral devises.
Aion (previous Kanebo) have produced porous material of PVA sponge since 1952, and for these 13 years we also have produced new kinds of sponge: PU (Polyurethane), PO (Polyolefin), EVA and PE sponges based on the unique technique of porous materials. All these sponge materials are very special and very different from other kind of so-called sponge. All of Aion’s sponge have continuous open cells with integrated structure, so they can absorb water quickly and retain water very well, and they are lint-free.

<Environment Challenges at Aion>
Aion Co., Ltd. have held up "Harmonization with society and environment: Foster a spirit of appreciating people and cherishing the environment" as one of our operating principles. In response to the tendency worldwide toward deepening environmental problems, and grounded in our own operating principles, we have endeavored toward business activities whose burden on the planet is minimal:
Year 2003: Started to use Aion’s PVA microbe carrier for our wastewater control
Year 2006: Acquired ISO 14000 (environmental management system)
Year 2015: Constructed gas boiler of lower dioxins (controlling generation to 1/10 or less regulatory level) and CO2

(Waste Water Control)
Aion Co., Ltd. have endeavored to conserve the aquatic environment by installing intelligent wastewater treatment facilities. We use Aion PC Separator (solid-liquid separating device) for a long time, but also since year 2003, we have started use Aion PVA Microbe Carrier, which clean the waste water. This fact contributes to environmental betterment by Aion’s products.
