Who we are
Galbiati Group is an Italian company, internationally-recognized for the quality of its machining, mechanical engineering and construction. Specialized in machining large-sized components since 1962, Galbiati Group is successful in all markets that require high standard precision components and machines. The Group primarily serves the steel, energy, astronomy, power trasmission, and general engineering industries.
The wide-ranging know-how acquired over decades of working side-by-side with major industrial groups combined with significant investments in equipment and technology, have led the Group to establish five divisions:
1. Mechanical machining and construction - Galbiati Group is the ideal partner qualified for custom construction of mid and large-sized components that require high quality standards. Our high-tech machine tools allows us to perform many types of machining, including NC boring, drilling, milling, and turning. Our ZEISS three dimensional measuring machines are fundamental for testing, dimensional inspection and certification.
2. Gear Reducers - we have an extensive experience in the design, manufacturing and revamping of: mechanical transmissions for steel industry (hot and cold rolling mill), cement and rubber industries, mining industry, cable car systems and hoisting winches etc. (Large Edger drives, pinion stands and twin drives for mill stands, main drives for shears, tilting converters drives, coilers and uncoilers. Turbine and pump gearboxes for hydroelectric power plants; planetary drives for antenna actuation and for TBM rotating heads; drives for rubber and plastic mixers; drives for cement industry and solid mills; winch drives for cable-car industry -cable railways, cable ways, cable cars, and chairlifts-and hosting equipment; gears and toothed gear segments for antenna actuation; girth gears for cement mills and kilns; gears for harbor cranes and marine winches; ring gears and pinions for TBM head drives.)
3. Engineering and construction of mechanical machines- we manufacture high-precision, large metal working machines. The machines are custom built according to customer designs and projects or are fully designed at Galbiati based on the customer’s specifications.
4. Deep hole Drilling Machines - Galbiati Group builds machines for deep drilling shell and tube heat exchanger plates (ASME, TEMA, and PED codes). These products are used in chemical, petrochemical and nuclear industries. Models with 1 to 5 spindles, with BTA (STS) and Gun-drilling systems.
5. Presses and Notching Machines - The Press and Notching Machine division at Galbiati Group is specialized in the design and construction of high speed presses and notching machines. It is dedicated to blanking and notching of magnetic laminations to produce rotors and stators for electric motors.
QUALITY
"Quality is the result of an organizational / production process, optimized and controlled at every stage, this has allowed Galbiati Group to obtain the certification of its Quality System at the beginning of 1997 in reference to the standard UNI EN ISO 9002, version of 1994, which accredited it as the only company qualified as a material manufacturer, installer and service provider.
Afterwards, in 2002, the Company adapted its own structure as shown in the standard update UNI EN ISO 9001, version of 2000, which introduced for the first time the "Process Approach" concept, enabling the company to become a supplier able to deliver products that fully comply with the requirements of the customer, and thus improving customer satisfaction.
Finally in 2009, the Company designed, built and improved its internal processes with respect to the requirements for standard UNI EN ISO 9001, version of 2008, which further clarifies the concept of "processes" listed in the previous UNI EN ISO 9001 version of 2000: The company must determine the processes needed for the Quality Management System, elaborating the sequence, the application, the interaction and ensuring continuous improvement, in order to improve customer satisfaction. UNI EN ISO 9001, version of 2008 is still in force."
Dimensional Control: Certified Quality and Precision
Thanks to its ZEISS MMZ-G 30 60 25 three dimensional coordinate measuring machine (operating range: L 6 m x D 3 m x H 2.5 m) housed in a controlled climate room, the Galbiati Group is among few Italian companies capable of performing inspections on large-sized components for applications requiring an uncertainty of measurements in micron, as well as issuing dimensional certification.
Afterwards, in order to be able to perform controls on small dimension pieces, GG included in its applications a second ZEISS ACCURA three-dimensional measuring machine with an operating range with the dimensions of 1.8mt x P. 1.2mt x H. 1mt always in an air-conditioned room, even in this case, a dimensional certifications compliance was respected

Certification of Quality Management System:
Rule of reference UNI EN ISO 9001:2008 issued from TUV recognized by ACCREDIA.
Qualifications to perform non-destructive testing: CND performance in reference to the requirements of the standard UNI EN 473 and ISO 9712 with staff qualifications certified by CICPND, ACCREDIA recognized and valid for testing:
UT Ultrasounds - MT Magnetic particle inspection (MPI) - PT Penetrant Test - VT Visible.
Qualifications to perform non-destructive testing: CND performance in reference to the Recommended Practice no. SNT-TC-1A with staff qualifications certified by CND valid for testing:

To ensure the highest quality, the management of production processes is essential in the critical transit of the company's manufactured products and in particular:
- Incoming inspection: Incoming materials are inspected to evaluate their compliance with the specifications.
- In-process inspection: Products undergo constant testing during machining and assembly.
- Final inspection of all machined products: Inspection according to the regulations outlined in international standards and in line with all customer specifications.
All controls / tests described are performed by qualified operators in relation to regulations and the issuance of compliance certificates stating that the controls / tests are regulated by the standard UNI EN 10204 for the 2005 edition.
ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT
In the Engineering Department there is a pool of engineers, specialized technicians, and designers with direct experience in a variety of fields and industries. This highly flexible team is ready to work with our customers to satisfy all their needs, using the most modern design tools.
This is not simply the implementation of customers' projects, rather design and co-design of components using finite element analysis in order to assess the degree of deformation and optimize geometries and re-engineering of customer machines.
The skills developed throughout years of engineering allow to reach the targets we set with the best technical solution.
The Galbiati Group Engineering Department cooperates with well-known international research centers.

Galbiati Group is one of the few Italian companies capable of inspecting and certifying its own parts using the ZEISS MMZ-G 30 60 25 three-dimensional measuring machine.
Flexibility means knowing how to change and to respond promptly to the customer engineering and manufacturing requirements making use of the half-century experience gained and investing each year in new resources, machines, training and research.
Galbiati Group has no "standard catalogue". Instead, there are thousands of Galbiati customized products and machinery throughout the world.
